Northwind "In the Field 3-D Habitat Maps

Available in time for the 2011 Deer Season will be our  Northwind "In the Field 3-D Habitat Maps" for Wisconsin and some areas of Michigan.  These new 3-D hunting maps will assist the deer hunter in planning their hunt even before leaving home.  Locations of Cedar Swamps, early successtional habitat (young clear-cut Aspen saplings), stands with an oak component, and wildlife openings and much more will allow the hunter to easily see feeding areas, bedding areas and the swamps where many deer retreat to during inclement weather. These 3-D maps allow the hunter to visualize the funnels and draws that a deer will use to access food sources and head for bedding areas. These maps are now available for the same coverage areas as our “In the Field Grouse Habitat Maps”.

Northwind In The Field 3-D Habitat Maps are designed for longevity, durability, and to identify habitat features that enable the hunter to better read the topography and cover before stepping into the woods.

Federal and State forests are mapped at district levels.  Many State and Federal forests cover multiple counties but there is no need to buy two or three counties worth of maps in order to get the particular State or Federal forest you are looking for

Features  of our Northwind In The Field 3-D Habitat Maps " include:

• Multi-habitat information layered onto each map enabling you to see the habitat shape as it lays on the land in 3D
• Young Aspen cuts, Tag Alders and Cedar, Oak stands and where available wildlife openings are displayed on each map, color coded with a concise and easy to interpret legend on each page
• See where multiple habitats come together enabling you to better anticipate escape routes, funnels and bedding areas.
• Aspen cuts labeled with year of origin and size in acres on each map
• Federal, State, County forest lands and Private lands (open to public hunting) shown on each map. In Wisconsin current MFL and FC lands are shown in each map area.

The maps are available in a download format or on a disk for ease of custom printing of only the areas you are interested and also included a KML file format that can be uploaded as a custom map to the newer Garmin GPS units that recognize KML files.
High end Waterproof paper is available for purchase for you to print your own custom maps for field use.
