In 2011 we were pleased to announce to our grouse hunting partnes that we had redesigned all our In The Field Ruffed Grouse Habitat Maps maps. Already this year we have added maps sets for Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee. These maps not only stand up to the rigors of hunting, but they are more detailed and "user friendly" than ever before. For 2011 we produced completely new maps for Wisconsin, Minnesota, and parts of Upper and Lower Michigan. Please be sure to scroll down this page to see our current listing of maps.
Shown to the left is a picture of one of our 2011 coil bound, front and back cover, In The Field Ruffed Grouse Habitat Maps sets. Most hunters tell us they like to have alll the maps of a given area in a book form for ease of "paging" through the maps and comparing one map to another map without them geting our of order.

Map coverage for County forests include all the county forest lands within the county and some map sets contain multiple counties dependent on the combined sizes of the county forests. The number of maps in each "map set" varies dependent on total acreage covered.

Federal and State forests are mapped at district levels. Many State and Federal forests cover multiple counties but there is no need to buy two or three counties worth of maps in order to get the particular State or Federal forest you are looking for. However, in some of the states, due to state forest boundries meeting each othere, these areas are mapped by count and put into multiple county map sets.
- Unique features of our "In The Field Ruffed Grouse Habitat Maps" include:
- Large Format 13" x 19" Waterproof- Tear and Puncture Resistant, specialized Medium
- Maps scale at( 1:24,000)
- Each Map covers approximately 25 square miles “that is over 60% more coverage area on each map than an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper thus allowing for easier reading of the map and not having to flip pages.
- Multi-habitat information layered onto each map enabling you to see the habitat shape as it lays on the land
- Aspen cuts 3 – 16 years of age (where data is provided), Tag Alders, Cedar, Tamarack, Wildlife Openings, Upland Conifer, Lowland Conifer, and Upland Brush (i.e. Hazel Brush... a good late season food source for grouse) and much more are displayed on each map, color coded and labeled.
- The Overlay of each habit shapes are displayed in such a way so that you can easily read the contour lines below each shape
- See where multiple Grouse Habitats come together enabling you to better anticipate grouse escape routes
- Aspen cuts labeled with year of origin and size in acres on each map …"no more turning pages or need of indexes to search through". Most states show year of origin and some show stocking (or stem) density.
- Federal, State, County forest lands and Private lands shown on each map
- Longer shelf life than any map available ... We are now showing much younger cuts so that you will not have to update your maps as often but still be able to concentrate your hunt on viable habitat in the range of 7 -16 years of age.
- Detailed Legend page detailing habitat symbols and naming conventions for each map set
- Provided at no charge upon request is a digital download of the aspen coordinates for you to be able to download directly into your GPS unit thus eliminating the need for hand entering the data.
- Roads are labeled and color coded according to use. Additional trails have been added to these maps that are not found on any other Topo maps
- Our Topo maps are custom made for each map set thus ensuring the most current topo map that is available at the time. We are constantly updating our data sets so that you have the most current topos that are available

Keep in mind, however, because of the limits of the PDF format the clarity of the colors and quality of the print has been severely compromised. The maps themselves are 13" x 19" which is difficult to replicate on a computer screen. Note that the aspen cuts are labeled with two sets of inline numbers: The first two numbers denote the year of origin; the second set is the size of the cut in acres.
